Is BPaaS The Solution?

Driven by advanced technologies, Business Process as a Service (BPaaS) is emerging as a model for companies to manage their data flows with efficiency and speed at low cost. Recognition technologies and artificial intelligence (AI) systems, such as natural language processing (NLP), can be used to automatically scan large amounts of data and extract and categorize the most relevant information. Meanwhile, robotic process automation (RPA) mimics the actions of a human employee, inputs data into the relevant systems and bridges the gaps between different IT systems. Together these technologies are known as intelligent automation (IA).
 
However, BPaaS is not just a technology play. The future for many companies will be a hybrid model, whereby digital systems are blended with human working practices to improve productivity and provide optimal cost/service ratios for both utility process transactions and complex process transactions (See Figure 2a). Using human workers in an onshore or offshore center is also a critical element of BPaaS.

Taking a hybrid approach allows companies to leverage the cost efficiency and accuracy of automation, while also retaining the key human element for more complex cases. As both of these parts are managed with the same BPaaS platform, there is the opportunity to build a highly efficient and scalable solution that can optimize not just individual tasks but entire workflows, generating new levels of efficiency and linking the back and front ends of their business in a seamless process.
